Dr. Narasimalu Srikanth

Dr. Narasimalu Srikanth is the Principal Research scientist and Program Director leading the Wind and Marine energy harvesting activities in Energy research institute at Nanyang Technological University. He has more than thirty years of industrial experience in product development and reliability engineering and prior to NTU, he was the director and senior Specialist in Vestas Wind Systems, leading the key global research activities in new generation wind turbines and wind energy forecasting. Prior to that he was leading R&D activities with ASM Technology Singapore and Tata Engineering (Pune). His education includes a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and his first Masters in Machine design from Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay, India) and his second masters in materials engineering and further his first Doctoral degree focused in Materials and Mechanical engineering related to Dynamic Machinery studies and later his second Doctoral Degree was focused in Technology Management from National University of Singapore. He is a member of ASME, ASM, ASPE, IEEE, IES and MRS(S) and he represents Singapore in the Ocean Energy Systems consortium (a technology initiative of International Energy Agency). He chairs the national standards committee in marine renewables and represents Singapore in TC-114 IEC standards committee. Presently he is leading industrial research projects on Floating renewable energy systems that includes resource assessment, tidal and wind turbine & floating solar development in Ocean deployment and evaluates detailed environmental impact and structural integrity studies towards clean energy system deployment in Southeast Asia. He leads a Joint industry program on offshore renewables comprising multinationals such as RollsRoyce, Keppel, Llyods Register, DNV, Schottel and ClassNK and other small and medium firms such as Centek, Envirotek, Oceanpixel, e.t.c. which supports doctoral student projects relevant towards industrial research needs. He has started his own startup in renewables towards remote monitoring (https://www.tree.sg). His research interests include bio-inspired turbine design optimization, Floating Solar design, Floating structure dynamics, Environmental impact assessment, Structural Degradation of assets, Structural health monitoring in ocean conditions and Industrial IOT Sensor integration, machine learning & Device Controls. He has published more than 150 international peer reviewed journal papers and has more than thirty patents from his research.
